Sunshine Dress for toddlers

Remember when little girls looked sweet?  This latest LakeHouse collection is just perfect for little girls.   I had great fun with the fabrics for these dresses.  The combinations of cute were endless.   The Sunshine dress is easy  and fun.   One pattern piece for the yoke,  a few cuts for the skirt and ruffle and your favorite toddler is set to go.  She can even dress herself- very big stuff.   Email me directly for pattern information or orders at [email protected].

My own daughter was born in Florida, on a 105 degree day.  She was a real girly girl and loved dresses.  It was a  bit of fun to choose the fabrics together.  It lasted until second grade.   This is a picture of the first day of school.  I wish I had the time at market to actually do a quilt with appliqued paper dolls.  The collection was just the ticket for it.  Her dress is smocked with paper dolls.  It was great to have a girl to sew for.  If only I had a better camera when she was a toddler.   She had a little sundress for every day of the week.

Before Market

Twas the countdown for Market, and all through the house

Fabric and thread were scattered about.

The projects were arriving, and to be clear, I’m

Wishing the deadline wasn’t so near.

The quilts were nestled all smooth on the frame

While visions of “Finished” danced in my head.

 

This mamma in her jeans, and sensible shoes, 

Certainly wouldn’t get a Dr. Phil nap anytime soon.

When out in the drive there arose such terror,

A Silver Audi is here,……….. “Oh bother”.

Opened the door, and what did I see,

A smiling Woman with more projects for me.

Faster than lightning these projects came,

And she clapped and squealed when the binding was on,

Now dashing, now cutting, now sewing and trimming,

On binding, on points, on rick rack and buttons.

To the top of the steps, to the top of the stone house,

Drop the load and run – yes run- run away now!

As countdown gets short, hurricane Holly will fly.

When she meets with an obstacle,  watch out  (can I hide?)

So up to my town she flew.

With the Silver Audi, and her little dog too.

Then without blinking, I heard at the door,

Holly – with work -  Yikes, More?

I took it all in and was turning around,

Down the walkway she came with her hound.

The hound had hair all over her eyes,

And her vision is necessary to keep afoot.

A bundle of joy she is to her human,

Clip, clip ,clip… her eyes now twinkle!

Soon I realized I had no more to fear,

The end of Market work was very near.

I spoke no more words and went straight back to work

Holly and hound, (now able to see), left me alone to finish these three.

And I checked off the list, projects came to their ends.

Beautiful all, this collection is a winner.

Now aren’t you glad I let the poem out,

Filled with poor English, But Hurray the quilts are off on their way!
